Alternate Light   Leave a comment

Alternate Light is a concept I’ve been developing for a number of years now.

Alternate Light is an exploration of the dichotomy of darkness and light. A way of seeing spaces that otherwise wouldn’t be possible to witness. The intention is to restore life to a lifeless space, even for just a moment. To recall that there was a time that these spaces had people working, playing and living within them. And in doing so, an alternate reality is created.

The following two images are a variation of the alternate lightscapes concept. However, instead of nothing but artificial lighting being utilized, I have combined both natural and artificial light sources.

AL_Control_Pro5On June 22nd and 23rd this year, the moon was closest to the Earth. This is referred to by astronomers as a perigree full moon, (or supermoon). This image is a combination of the supermoon, the last waning moments of sunlight, and a series of artificial lights. More information about the supermoon can be found at earthsky.org: http://earthsky.org/tonight/is-biggest-and-closest-full-moon-on-june-23-2013-a-supermoon

Please keep in mind that there is no commercially available power on the site. All lighting was powered from a generator.
